How it works
How it works
Gerotor and gear pumps work by changing chamber volume: as the rotors turn, the suction-side chamber grows and draws oil in, while the discharge-side chamber shrinks and pushes oil out. Oil is delivered to motor windings, bearings and gear meshes, lubricating and absorbing heat, then returns to the sump and is cooled before recirculating.
- 1 Suction Chamber expands and draws in oil
- 2 Discharge Chamber contracts and pressurises oil
- 3 Lubricate & cool Spray or pressure-feed to contacts and windings
- 4 Return & cool Cooled in the oil cooler and recirculated

Applications
Applications
- Electric Vehicles Battery pack cooling and oil-cooled e-drives — electric water and oil pumps.
- Compressors & Industrial Gearboxes Lube oil systems for turbo-compressors, steam turbine gear units and high-speed reducers.
- Machine Tools & Equipment Spindle cooling, cutting fluid circulation and hydraulic unit cooling for stable accuracy.
Selection guide
Selection guide
- Determine flow from the number of lubrication points and heat load
- Check suction and start-up at the viscosity of the coldest oil
- Choose the drive: electric motor, shaft drive or electronic control
- Confirm oil grade, temperature range and installation space
