How it works
How it works
In a high-speed gearbox forced-lubrication system, the pump draws oil from the tank or sump and pressurises it; after filtering and cooling, oil is fed through galleries and nozzles to every gear mesh and bearing. The main pump is often shaft-driven and the standby pump motor-driven, switching over automatically when oil pressure drops so lubrication never stops.
- 1 Suction Draw oil from tank or sump
- 2 Pressurise Gear or screw pump delivers steady pressure
- 3 Filter & cool Duplex filter and oil cooler
- 4 Feed Nozzles lubricate gear teeth and bearings

Selection guide
Selection guide
- Calculate total oil flow from gearbox power loss and bearing requirements
- Check suction capability at the lowest ambient temperature
- Define main-pump drive and standby strategy
- Consider pressure pulsation, noise and service intervals
