Selection
What information do you need to select a pump?
At minimum: required flow, system head or outlet pressure, fluid type and concentration, fluid temperature range and supply voltage. Please also mention speed control / communication needs, installation space, noise or certification requirements so our engineers can recommend a model and show the duty point on its curve.
How do I estimate the head of a liquid cooling loop?
The head must cover the total pressure drop of the loop at design flow: cold plates, quick couplings, manifolds, piping, heat exchanger, filters and so on, plus a 10–20% margin. Component pressure drops can usually be read from each supplier’s flow vs. pressure-drop curves.
Centrifugal or positive displacement (gear, gerotor, screw)?
Coolant circulation — high flow, low head, low viscosity — usually calls for a centrifugal pump. Lubricating oil — higher viscosity, steady pressure — usually calls for a positive displacement pump, whose flow is roughly proportional to speed and little affected by system pressure.
What should I watch for with lubrication pumps at low temperature?
Oil viscosity rises sharply when cold. Check suction vacuum and motor starting torque; if needed, enlarge and shorten the suction line or add heating and pre-lubrication. Please state the minimum ambient temperature and oil grade in your enquiry.
Installation & use
Can a canned pump run dry?
No. Bearings in canned and magnetic drive pumps are lubricated by the pumped fluid, and dry running damages them quickly. Vent fully and fill with fluid before the first start. The CP-D series detects dry running and shuts down, but prolonged dry running should still be avoided.
Does mounting orientation matter?
Centrifugal pumps are best mounted with the outlet up or horizontal to help venting; avoid the highest point of the loop. Positive displacement pumps should sit close to and below the oil level to ensure suction. See each series’ installation manual for details.
Which coolants can be used?
Common fluids are ethylene / propylene glycol solutions, deionised water and some fluorinated fluids. Wetted materials differ by series, so please state fluid type, concentration and additives when selecting to confirm material compatibility.
Maintenance & troubleshooting
Do the pumps need routine maintenance?
Canned and magnetic drive pumps have no mechanical seal; day to day, watch fluid cleanliness and system pressure. For lubrication pumps, check filter differential pressure and oil condition regularly. For lube oil systems, inspect couplings, filter elements and instruments at the intervals in the manual.
What can cause flow or pressure to drop?
Typical causes are air in the loop, clogged filters, changed fluid viscosity, excessive suction resistance or internal wear. Check venting, filter differential pressure and suction conditions first, then contact our application engineers.
How do I read fault codes from DC pumps?
CP-D and EOP pumps report speed, current and fault status via the PWM feedback signal or CAN / LIN messages. The protocol and fault code definitions are in each series’ communication document, available on request from the downloads page.
Ordering & service
Are samples available?
Samples of standard models are available for testing; custom variants are assessed per project. Please send project details and quantities through the enquiry page.
Do you offer customisation?
Yes — interfaces, voltage, communication protocol, mounting and duty point can be customised, including co-development with your system. Volumes and lead times are confirmed per project.
What is the warranty period?
Warranty terms are as agreed in the contract. (Placeholder: standard warranty to be confirmed.)
